This week’s Shop Oakland blog features one of the newest additions to our Visitors Center & Museum Shop. The beautiful photography book, Atlanta Then and Now by Michael Rose. This book spans the past 150 years and places vintage photos of Atlanta landmarks and locations alongside present-day photos. Atlanta Then and Now also provides descriptions and information about the buildings and the areas pictured.
To say that Atlanta has changed a lot in the past 150 years is quite the understatement. It has gone from a train depot city aptly named “Terminus” to the bustling metropolis that it is today. The comparison between the Atlanta of the past and present is stunning and sometimes shocking but the author does a beautiful job in making connections between past and present. Atlanta Then and Now is available at the Visitors Center & Museum Shop gift shop.
