Meet Historic Oakland Foundation’s new development coordinator, Ayanna Akobundu
I first discovered Oakland as a freshman at Agnes Scott College. I was immediately drawn into the eclectic history and stories of Oakland and admired the care taken to preserve the legacy of Oakland. As an Atlanta transplant, Oakland is one of the first places I came to love in Atlanta.
I graduated from Agnes Scott College in 2019 with a B.A. in History. I have always had a desire to work with mission-driven organizations, and I immediately pursued a career in the non-profit sector. My background is in operations, primarily focusing on event management, fundraising, and financial management. Oakland is one of my favorite places to visit in Atlanta, so I jumped at the opportunity to work with the Historic Oakland Foundation (HOF). I am so excited to join my passion for preserving Atlanta’s history with my work at HOF.
I believe Oakland is one of the most beautiful places in Atlanta to visit, it feels like a quiet sanctuary in the middle of a busy city. I love introducing people to the wonders of Oakland and taking my dog for scenic walks (I think it may be her favorite place in Atlanta as well).
I am so excited to join the HOF team and I look forward to meeting the members and volunteers that make Oakland so great. If you see me around, please say, “Hi”!
