It’s GAgives on #GivingTuesdayNow and We Need Your Support
GAgives on #GivingTuesdayNow is an emergency response to the enormous need caused by COVID-19. The day will focus on generosity, citizen engagement, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.
Historic Oakland Foundation works hard in pursuit of its mission to restore Oakland Cemetery and enhance its beautiful Victorian gardens. Spring is usually a busy time for Historic Oakland Foundation, bringing Oakland Cemetery’s gardens and our programs to life. We usually welcome tens of thousands of visitors to the Cemetery to enjoy spring blossoms, walking tours, plant sales, and special events. All of these activities are an integral part of our mission to share Oakland Cemetery with the public and generate revenue that is critical to our ability to carry out our work of preserving and restoring Oakland Cemetery.
Of course, these are unusual times. In light of the rapidly unfolding COVID-19 public health crisis, we have closed the Visitors Center and postponed or canceled all scheduled activities, including tours, programs, and special events. This is the right thing for us to do and the best way for us to keep our visitors, volunteers, and staff safe. Unfortunately, as a result, we are now faced with the implications of more than $500,000 in lost revenue.
In order to continue doing our work and emerge from these challenging times strong, we need your help! You can help us keep Historic Oakland Foundation’s momentum going. With your assistance, we will weather these difficult times and remain a vibrant organization dedicated to caring and sharing Atlanta’s most beautiful and historic park.
Please donate to our GAgives on #GivingTuesdayNow campaign and help us keep Historic Oakland Foundation’s momentum going. Whatever amount you donate will be matched by a generous board member, up to $5,000.
