Elevate Life is a yoga and wellness series co-hosted with Jess Pfeffer of Jess Pfeffer Holistic Event Planning. Each Elevate Life session is designed to offer Oakland Cemetery as a place of healing, well-being, and social connections.

July 11: Soundscapes & Stillness: A Sound Bath Meditation Journey
We invite you to experience a sound bath meditation journey at Oakland Cemetery. This experience will combine the calming sounds of nature, instruments, and guided meditation to cultivate inner stillness and tranquility.
Instructor: Sarah Payton is the owner of Positive Sound Vibes LLC. She is a graduate of Mercer University. After college she went on to complete her 200-hour Sound Healing certification with SoundEmbrace. She is also a Certified Therapeutic SoundPractitioner through the International Sound Therapy Associate and a member of the Sound Healers Association. Sarah strives to support the mental health and wellness of those in her community through sound therapy
September 5: Elevate Life: Eternal Tranquility with Restorative Yoga
Embark on a unique journey of serenity and introspection as we gather amidst the peaceful ambiance of the Oakland Cemetery for a restorative mind and body experience. Surrounded by the stillness of nature, our class invites you to delve deep into relaxation and restoration, connecting with the cycle of life and embracing the present moment with profound awareness. Through gentle movements and guided meditation, allow yourself to let go of stress and tension, immersing in a state of ultimate relaxation.
Instructor: Shelby Adina is the founder of KHōNA Fitness and an agent for health equity and diversity in wellness. She is a 500 Hour RYT, Sound Healer, and allaround fitness enthusiast, committed to uplifting BIPOC women and the LGBTQIA+ community.
November 14: Elevate Life: Yoga for Healthy Aging + Community Potluck
Join trauma-informed yoga therapist, Rebecca Steele for a onehour yoga experience created for all bodies to help support healthy aging and overall well being. Rebecca will guide you through a sequence of gentle movements, breathing practices, mindfulness techniques that are designed to improve balance and stability, increase mobility and flexibility, all while addressing common discomforts that arise as we age. Expect to decompress, reconnect and learn valuable tools that assist us in aging with ease and grace.
Instructor: Rebecca Steele is a trauma informed yoga therapist. She began her career in 2013 after being drawn to the field of Yoga Therapy from her previous yoga training because of her personal experiences with Rheumatoid Arthritis, anxiety and mental health conditions. She holds a certification as a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) with The International Association of Yoga Therapists (I-AYT), and as a 500 hour experienced yoga instructor (E-RYT500), with the Yoga Alliance (YA).

The event takes place inside Oakland Cemetery. Follow the signs to the location. Bring a yoga mat, towel, or blanket, and a full water bottle.
Restrooms available in the Visitor Center.
Paid parking is available in the Oakland lot at 342 MLK Dr. Free street parking may be available nearby. MARTA’s King Memorial station is a five minute walk to Oakland.
