Trick or Trot

October 5 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join us for a Halloween-themed fun run through historic Oakland Cemetery at 5 p.m. on October 5! This new 4k begins and ends at the iconic Oakland gate and features:

  • A trick or treat themed course
  • Costume contest
  • Fun photo-ops
  • A thrilling warm-up
  • and more Halloween surprises!

Each finisher receives a mini pumpkin and commemorative t-shirt. Overall winners are awarded a gourmet pumpkin pie. Come early to purchase your pumpkins and fall decor at our fourth annual Pumpkin Patch (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) featuring a variety of pumpkin types and sizes, an Oakland pop-up shop, coffee and snacks, pumpkin decorating, and more! Stay after the race for a Halloween themed after-party hosted at ​Republic Social House— each runner over 21 gets a free Sweetwater beer!

This two-day fall festival runs October 5 & 6 and celebrates the season with a variety of autumn and Halloween activities! Purchase pumpkins perfect for your fall decor, pose for photos at the seasonally decorated photo-ops, and enjoy family-friendly activities such as kids’ costume contests, pumpkin decorating, and spooky games. The event includes a children’s festival area, museum shop pop-up, and a Harvest Market featuring local purveyors of handmade foods and goods.

ADDITIONAL RACE INFORMATION

All runners will receive a commemorative Trick or Trot t-shirt, a mini-pumpkin, and will have the chance to win awards and prizes.
Runners, joggers, and walkers of all levels are welcome. Leashed dogs and strollers are always welcome in the cemetery.
Historic Oakland Foundation members receive $5 off their Trick or Trot entries.

GHOST RUNNERS

Want to support the cause but don’t want to break a sweat? Register as a “ghost runner”! Ghost runners pay the race registration fee and a small shipping fee to have the race t-shirt sent to them after the event. This is a great way to support Oakland!

 

PARKING

Limited street parking is available around Oakland Cemetery. We encourage participants to use rideshare or MARTA when visiting the site (King Memorial MARTA Station is a short walk from Oakland Cemetery).

 

AFTER PARTY

To quench your post-race thirst, we are hosting a Trick or Trot 4K after-party at Republic Social House! Situated directly across from Oakland, this neighborhood hangout has reserved their covered rooftop overlooking the cemetery just for race participants! Republic, in partnership with SweetWater Brewing Company, is providing one free Sweetwater 420 draft beer to individuals 21 and over who arrive wearing their race number. Republic’s full dinner menu will be available for purchase. The after-party also features fun swag giveaways and specialty gifts from race sponsors and the Oakland Museum Store. Join us for a party to remember at the end of a spectacular fall day!

 

FUNDRAISING

All proceeds from Trick or Trot benefit Historic Oakland Foundation’s mission to preserve, restore, enhance, and share Oakland Cemetery, where Atlanta’s history comes alive.

 

AWARDS

Awards will be given to runners in the following divisions: the overall male, female, and non-binary; the overall Masters male, female, and non-binary; and the top three male, female, and non-binary age group winners in 14 age groups from 10 & under to 70 & over. The awards ceremony will take place following the race.

 

T-SHIRTS

All registered runners will receive a commemorative Trick or Trot 4K t-shirt.

 

COSTUME CONTEST

Join the Trick or Trot 4K Halloween Costume Contest! Prizes awarded at the awards ceremony to the most creative costumes in the following categories: Best Adult, Best Youth, Best Family, Best Group, Best Dog.

 

PACKET PICKUP

Early pick is available on Thursday and Friday. Race day pick-up is available at Oakland beginning at 3:30 PM.
