On January 20, 2025, Oakland Cemetery will join in the city-wide event honoring the legacy of Atlanta’s native son, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by participating in the MLK Day of Service.
Alongside our partners at Trees Atlanta, we are able to host a group of 100 volunteers [space is limited!] for a day of planting trees provided by Trees Atlanta. In addition to planting trees, our Day of Service volunteers will participate in pruning, mulching, landscaping, weeding invasive plants, and more on the Oakland Cemetery grounds!
Trees Atlanta is also seeking Project Ambassador volunteers for this event. Following the Day of Service activities, volunteers will be given a short tour of Oakland Cemetery and its Historic African American grounds.
Registration for this event is strongly recommended. Register here or through the button below, and you will be contacted by an Oakland volunteer staff member for further details. Thank you for your interest in supporting Oakland and honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of service.
