MLK Day of Service at Oakland Cemetery
January 22 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
On Monday, January 17, Oakland Cemetery commemorates the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service with a morning in our gardens.
Please note: We have reluctantly made the decision to postpone our MLK Jr. Day of Service service project due to the conditions in Atlanta. The project to improve the historic African American grounds still needs your help, so we are rescheduling it to Saturday, January 22 from noon to 3:00 p.m.
Volunteers are invited to help us expand the gardens in the historically African American section. We will be planting a variety of plants, mulching, weeding, and making other general improvements to the area.
Please RSVP in advance to ensure that we have enough tools and equipment for all. Click the button below or email email@example.com.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for the weather as well as comfortable, close-toed shoes.
In honor of MLK Day, Historic Oakland Foundation will also host FREE guided tours of the African American Grounds. Learn more.
