Flashlight Tour: Holiday Edition

December 16, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Explore Oakland’s botanical, secular, and religious symbols during an after-hours Symbolism of Oakland tour.

The Victorian fixation on symbolism is reflected in the grave markers and gardens of Oakland Cemetery. Whether it be carving a crown (honor) into stone or planting marigolds (grief) on a family lot, each choice was deliberately made in hopes of reflecting the dead’s personality, disposition, relationships, and life.

Join us for a complimentary drink at the Bell Tower at 4:30 p.m. The tour will begin just before sunset at 5:00. All participants will receive an HOF flashlight and a 10% discount in the Museum Shop and Visitors Center.

This is a limited event, so purchase a ticket today.

General admission: $18
Historic Oakland Foundation member: $10

Note: Not all areas of Historic Oakland Cemetery are wheelchair accessible. Please use your discretion when planning your tour visit.

Grab a bite before or after the tour at Your Pie Grant Park! Each ticket holder will receive a coupon for a $10 Oakland Combo (which includes a pizza, beer or large fountain drink with souvenir cup, and scoop of gelato for $10).

A special thanks to our program partner, Your Pie Grant Park!
