Fall Plant Sale
September 25 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Shop a great selection of interesting and hard-to-find plants at Historic Oakland Foundation’s Fall Plant Sale! The sale will take place at Oakland Cemetery’s Beaumont Allen Greenhouse on Saturday, September 25 with a special members-only presale on September 24.
In order to maintain a safe number of patrons shopping at any given time and to avoid customers having to wait in long lines, we have implemented a ticketing system to reserve a time slot. The reservation time slots on Saturday, September 25 are at 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are $10 and are good for one or two people. You will receive a credit of $10 off your purchase when you check out. (If your purchase totals less than $10, we’ll refund the amount of your purchase. Offer excludes tax).
Each customer may reserve one time slot and will have 90 minutes to shop. Those arriving late will have the remainder of their time slot to shop. Again, each reservation is good for up to two shoppers. While attending, please allow other customers and staff at least six feet of room. Face masks are required in accordance with the CDC guidelines as of the day of the sale.
HOF Member Presale
Historic Oakland Foundation members will get the first pick of the Fall Plant Sale inventory on Friday, September 24 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during a special members-only presale. Reservations are required for the Presale. We have emailed our members a link to make reservations.
Here’s how it will work:
- Arrive five to ten minutes early so that you can check in with the line attendant and queue safely before your time slot begins. There will be one way in and one way out of the shopping area. Signs will indicate where to line up. Please maintain at least six feet of space between yourself and others while in line. Face masks are recommended.
- The attendant will allow you to enter when the previous group has completed shopping.
- A holding area will be available where you may gather your plants before checking out.
- Each plant will have a colored stake in it that corresponds to a sale price. Simply pull the colored stakes and take them to the cashier when you check out.
- We will have two cashiers and remote/contactless card readers. Please pay with card/your phone for this sale. NO CASH.
All plants are first-come, first served.
You are welcome to drive up to pick up your purchases. The road in front of the greenhouse will be open for one-way traffic, and there will be a designated pull-off area for plant loading. We ask that you load your purchases as efficiently as possible to allow other customers to drive up. For safety reasons, we will not have staff available to help with loading. You can download a map of Oakland Cemetery here.

What if I can’t attend during my time slot?
We are committed to maintaining safe numbers of people in the shopping area. Each shopper may reserve one time slot and will have 90 minutes to shop. Those arriving late will have the remainder of their time slot to shop. Shoppers without reservations may shop from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday. If you have made a reservation and do not attend the sale at all, we will consider the cost of your reservation a donation to Historic Oakland Foundation.
What if the Fall Plant Sale is rained out?
If the Fall Plant Sale is rained out, we will reschedule the sale for Saturday, October 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will email reservation holders if the event is rescheduled. We will also post the information on this page and on our Facebook page.
