On Saturday, Oct. 18, runners of all ages are invited to Run Like Hell (or “Heck” for the youngsters) through Atlanta’s beautiful Oakland Cemetery and neighboring Grant Park. Proceeds from this first annual 5K and 1K fun run will benefit Oakland Cemetery.
Runners will follow a course winding among the monuments and mausoleums of Atlanta’s most historic cemetery where notables such as Margaret Mitchell, Bobby Jones and Maynard Jackson are buried. Run Like Hell competitors will also race through Grant Park, before finishing inside Oakland Cemetery. Run Like Heck contestants will complete their course within the historic park. Prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women overall, the top male and female running in the Master’s Division and the top three male and female finishers in 13 age groups from 10 and under up to age 60 and over. Each 1K finisher will receive a ribbon.
Registration for the 5K Run Like Hell race is $20 in advance, $25 after Oct. 1. Registration for the 1K Run Like Heck fun run is $15 in advance, $20 after Oct. 1.
