There are many people actively engaged in the preservation of this park as members of the Historic Oakland Foundation. It is a non-profit friends group whose aim is to preserve and restore this cultural landmark, and to make it as accessible to as many people as possible. We believe that as residents and visitors come to understand Oakland as the keeper of Atlanta's very best stories--the "soul of the city," so to speak --they will come to appreciate our city's history in an entirely new way.
All funding for restoration projects is raised through membership dues, donations, grants, and special events. Everyone is invited to join the Foundation because members are essential to the vitality of our organization. Getting new members involved at Oakland provides the Foundation the ability to continue our rapid pace of restoration and also enhances our strongest marketing tool--word of mouth. Public knowledge of our activities is critically important. As a member of Historic Oakland Foundation you are participating in a very worthwhile and valued project.
