Atlanta’s historic Oakland Cemetery is not only a final resting place; it's also a vibrant, living landmark where you can host your wedding, corporate event, or celebration.

For those seeking an event venue unlike any other, Oakland offers transformative settings. From lush gardens to ornate mausoleums, our spaces blend Victorian elegance, classic charm, and contemporary creativity.

Let’s take a tour of some of Oakland’s most unique event spaces:

The Bell Tower

Capacity: Up to 100 guests

Best For:  Intimate weddings, cocktail receptions, bridal and baby showers, creative workshops

At the center of the cemetery stands the historic Bell Tower, Oakland’s crown jewel. Originally built in 1899 and meticulously restored in 2022, this two-level space offers covered porches, arched windows, and unmatched views of downtown Atlanta. Guests often marvel at the contrast: a stately, sacred space that feels both timeless and vibrant.

Hear directly from a client who hosted their event in the Bell Tower: “The Bell Tower, the setup for the reception, the musicians and your personal support made this a memorable event even for those of us who have been to other events at Oakland. And the folks attending an event at Oakland for the first time were completely blown away!”

North Public Grounds

Capacity: Up to 150 guests

Best For: Wedding receptions, community dinners, concerts, outdoor movie nights

Set against skyline views and surrounded by centuries of Atlanta’s history, this spacious lawn area is ideal for large-scale events that need room to breathe. The space can be configured for dining under the stars, music, or pop-up markets.

If you attended illumine, you might have enjoyed live music in this space as the sun set over Atlanta! It just steps away from the Oakland entrance gate and Visitor Center, making it a great option for those looking for accessible parking or planning a reception in the Oakland Overlook.

The Secret Garden

Capacity: Up to 75 guests

Best For: Small ceremonies, intimate proposal spots, upscale picnics, yoga sessions

Tucked just beside Oakland's brand-new Visitor Center, the Secret Garden lives up to its name. Surrounded by flowers, trees, and views of Oakland's original six acres, this secluded pocket of green is a perfect choice for couples looking for a quiet moment to exchange vows or creatives seeking a serene spot for small group programming.

The space requires minimal setup (its natural beauty does the work) and offers privacy while still being easily accessible to guests.

Potter’s Field

Capacity: Up to 150 guests

Best For:
Reflection ceremonies, remembrance walks, public history programs, and social justice gatherings

Potter’s Field is one of the most historically significant areas of Oakland Cemetery, serving as the final resting place for thousands of Atlantans who lived on the margins of society, many of whom were buried without markers or recorded names. Today, it is a site of quiet reverence and reflection.

This open green space offers a backdrop for events centered around remembrance, equity, and community. Ideal for walking tours, vigils, or programs focused on social history, Potter’s Field invites us to reckon with the past and honor lives that were forgotten.

The Henson-Parris Mausoleum

Capacity: Up to 30 guests
Best For: Micro-weddings, styled photoshoots, legacy events

This stately granite mausoleum, built in the early 20th century, is one of Oakland’s most visually striking above-ground tombs. Its symmetrical façade and bronze doors offer a stately atmosphere for small, immersive experiences.

It’s ideal for intimate programming that leans into the historic, sacred, and artistic character of the cemetery.
